Setup

Before Setup — Get Your OPENAI_API_KEY

1. Go to platform.openai.com and generate an API key
2. Open .opengoat\.env in VS Code and add the following line:

OPENAI_API_KEY=sk-paste-your-key-here

3. Save the file (Ctrl+S)

4. Start OpenClaw Gateway in the VS Code terminal:

$env:DEBUG="-ciao*"; openclaw gateway --force

Step 1 — Download ZIP and run install.bat

Download the ZIP from the button above, extract it, and double-click install.bat.

Step 2 — AI Concierge Setup

Open claude.ai, paste the prompt below, and just follow Claude's instructions.

Troubleshooting

Issue	Solution
Warning when running install.bat	Click "More info" → "Run anyway"
401 error on image generation	Open .opengoat\.env in VS Code and check OPENAI_API_KEY
Image generated by Google instead of GPT-image-2	Paste the error into claude.ai and it will tell you how to fix it
Discord 403 error	Paste the error into claude.ai and it will tell you how to fix it
Gateway startup error	Run $env:DEBUG="-ciao*"; openclaw gateway --force in VS Code terminal
Not sure what command to run	Describe the situation to claude.ai — it will suggest the right command

About Autonomous Agent Design

balia-design adopts the fundamental form of autonomous agents.

Only 1 agent configuration needed at installation

You don't need to prepare configurations for all agents at installation time. Just configure 1 agent (the assigned agent's SPEC and SOUL) and it will work.

Unregistered agents autonomously generate their own configuration

When an agent without a dedicated SPEC/SOUL file tries to use balia-design:

1. It automatically generates its own configuration based on an existing agent's SPEC/SOUL
2. It self-reports the completion to Discord
3. It starts working immediately

There is no need for humans to manually add configurations.

Autonomous error reporting

Even when image generation fails, agents respond autonomously:

• Automatic retry up to 3 times
• After 3 failures, self-reports the error content to Discord and exits

This is the fundamental form of autonomous agents that BALIA OS aims for.
